Tsunami News 2020-2021 is a magazine-style publication which covers notable events in the world of tsunami risk management over the last year. On the occasion of World Tsunami Awareness Day (WTAD), 5 November 2020, the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres said: "When tsunamis strike, they are a supreme test of the governance and institutions that have been put in place to manage disaster risk. Strengthening disaster risk governance is the theme of this year's World Tsunami Awareness Day. It should help build our resllience to all hazards, natural and man-made." Tsunami News provides comprehensive coverage of the events organized to mark WTAD and an overview of the expansion of IOC-UNESCO's Tsunami Ready programme across the world's oceans and other UN supported initiatives. There are now 26 communities certified as Tsunami Ready by IOC-UNESCO and plans are in the works to expand.
